Venus-Moon Conjuction

We are lucky in southern hemisphere (in Australia) to get an opportunity to see the Venus-Moon Conjuction for over two months now. It’s hard to shoot Venus as the definition and fidelity of images through a telescope is not that great as Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system! (and you thought Mercury!)….

Shallow (a poem)

Shallow, shallow is my heart, A void that yearns to be filled, But all I find is emptiness, A chasm that can never be stilled. I seek for things that do not last, For beauty that fades with time, I chase the wind, I chase the past, And leave true love behind. I am lost…

Kookaburra Abstract

My daughter, Norah, at the age of one used to stare through the window in the afternoon and watch a Kookaburra. She used to imitate the noise the Kookaburra made. That’s how she got her nickname “Kuku”. This abstract painting of Kookaburra was made over six months using some old ink and water colour! –…

Plastic to Fuel

Researchers at Washington State University have developed an innovative way of converting plastic to jet fuel and other useful hydrocarbons. In their work, published in Chem Catalysis, they converted 90% of polyethylene to jet fuel and other hydrocarbons at 220 degree celsius. This is far better and efficient than any other process to convert plastic…

In the past, attempts to learn the origins and function of these quadruple helix involved using a probe which either killed the cell…

Smaller brain does wonders!

Researchers at University of Michigan recently published paper in which they summarised that complex behaviour of insects is shaped and driven from social environment than brain size. Historically, complex cognitive ability and finer social skills were associated with larger brain size. More and more research now points to the fact that size does not matter…

Life will bounce back

Inspired by the devastating bush fires in Australia in 2019. Apparently, Australia’s flora and fauna has experienced such harsh climate for millions of years. In fact the diversity and resistance in Australian flora and fauna is attributed to these past bush fires. Irrespective of such conditions, we (Australians) – humans and plants and animals alike…
